Bobby Joe Campbell

September 12, 1951 - October 27, 2015

Bobby "Bob" Joe Campbell, age 64 of Norman passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Norman Health Plex. Bob was born September 12, 1951 in Purcell, Oklahoma, to Freddie Joe And Anne Marie (Jeffries) Campbell.

Bob grew up in Norman and graduated from Norman High School in 1969. He attended the University of Oklahoma and began his working career in the Student Union. He then worked in the University Book Store for 15 years and his current job for 15 years as a Student Services Assistant in the Bursar's Office.

Bob enjoyed with his family and friends jokes, politics, stories and OU football. He was a 30+ year football ticket holder and never missed an OU/Texas game. To be around other OU sports, we worked the On Call Booth at various sporting events. He loved working in the Bursar's Office and knowing so many OY employees, who became friends. He enjoyed being head chef at the annual Bursar Office cook out. He loved to travel with Heanne, his lifelong companion, cruising to Hawaii, Panama Canal and Alaska and road trips to various parts of the US and Canada. He had a soft spot for children and animals, particularly his dogs Gracie, Lucy, Tucker and his first and favorite, Barney.

He was preceded in death by parents Fred & Marie Campbell, sister, Karen K. Desmond, grandparents and his beloved dog Barney, who I hope met Bobby at the gates of Heaven.

He is survived by his companion, Jeanne Turpin of the home in Norman, Jeanne's brother, Bill Lindahl of Midwest City, OK, brother in law, Brian Desmond and wife Pam of Rockwall, TX, three uncles, Billy Campbell and wife Amelia of Norman, Larry Campbell and wife Sandy of Norman and Dickie Campbell and wife Judy of South Carolina; two aunts, Gloria Adkins and husband Don of Norman, Sue Brown and husband Bob of Norman; many cousins and a host of other relatives and friends. He is also survived by his closest friends, Gracie, Lucy and Tucker.

As his companion for life, I will miss Bobby and the fun and life we shared together. He was the kindest, sweetest and most sincere person. He and I had a wonderful friendship and deep love for one another that I will miss. I hope he is in a peaceful place and is with his family members and Barney.

Visitation with family and friends will be at Wilson-Little Funeral Home, 127 S. Canadian, Purcell, OK. Sunday, November 1st from 4-6 pm.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Monday, November 2, 2015 at the First Christian Church in Norman. Internment will be at the Lexington Cemetery in Lexington, OK.

Arrangements are by Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the following animal sanctuaries - "2nd Chance", Norman, OK; "Free to Live", Edmond, OK. Or to the OU Foundation.
